We are looking for a candidate to work alongside another IP professional under the Manager of Infection Prevention at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. The 325 bed facility has an average daily census of 225 and is located in Wausau, Wisconsin.
This position will be entry-level, and no registered nursing license is required, though it is preferred.

infection preventionist - Aspirus Wausau
For a 4th year in a row, Aspirus has been recognized as one of the top 15 Top Health Systems in the United States by IBM Watson in their annual study identifying the top-performing health systems in the country based on overall organizational performance.
We are seeking a INFECTION PREVENTIONIST in Wausau, WI at Aspirus Wausau Hospital who is responsible for surveillance, prevention and control of infections that could be transmitted in a healthcare setting as well as the prevention or minimization of the risk of occupational exposure to employees. Recommends and administers comprehensive infection prevention and control policies and procedures and monitors the environment for potential risks. Collaborates with manager to ensure infection prevention and control policies and procedures are compliant with regulatory requirements and standards. Collects, aggregates and analyzes data related to all aspects of infection prevention to afford opportunities to improve clinical care and patient safety. Prepares reports detailing findings and submits same to appropriate leadership.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of patient care standards and practices as they relate to infection prevention normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or an allied health profession.
A minimum of two years of experience working in an acute care hospital or public health agency.
Previous experience as a member of an Infection Prevention/Control program beneficial.
Educational or job related experience providing a working knowledge of the basics of infection surveillance, prevention and control, as well as principles of epidemiology, infectious disease and patient care practice beneficial.
Current membership in professional organizations beneficial.
Possesses interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact efficiently with all levels of hospital personnel, conduct educational programs, and provide advice and counsel regarding Infection Control program and policies.
Demonstrates proficiency with use of a PC and utilization of automated hospital information systems and national databases.
Possesses a broad-based knowledge and understanding of Quality/Performance Improvement philosophy and methodology, and application of such in the clinical setting.
A general understanding of regulatory agencies specific to healthcare operations, i.e., TJC, OSHA, CMS, and FDA, with application of risk management principles.
Possesses a broad knowledge of medical and nursing patient care as well as medical record management.
LICENSURE
If a Registered Nurse, possesses an active Wisconsin RN license desired.
If allied health profession, possesses appropriate accreditation (i.e., ASCP).
Hours: 1.0 full-time, 80 hours in 2 weeks. Flexible shift – generally 8am – 4:30pm
