Infection Prevention Manager

We are looking for a candidate with a certification in Infection Control to fill the role of Infection Prevention Manager at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital. You will report to the Quality and Patient Safety Director and will manage the infection prevention program for this 152 bed hospital, located in Knoxville, Tennessee. 

 

Required for this position are a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field and an RN license must be active in the state of Tennessee or a Compact RN Licensure. You will need 2 years of experience in an acute care setting and 2+ years of healthcare leadership experience. An ideal candidate would also have 2 years of progressive infection experience.

East Tennessee Children’s Hospital is a 152-bed hospital certified by the state of Tennessee as one of four Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center in Tennessee and is accredited by the Joint Commission. As a Comprehensive Regional Pediatric Center, Children’s Hospital offers full capabilities to care for seriously ill children in a unique pediatric environment and offers the services of many different pediatric subspecialties. Children’s Hospital works jointly with the University of Tennessee Medical Center to ensure that injured children in this region receive trauma care at the institution most appropriate for the child’s needs. We also assist smaller hospitals by providing pediatric health care training opportunities.

Since our first day in 1937, we have had an open-door policy that no child will be denied care because of race, religion or their parents’ ability to pay their child’s medical bill.

BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Develops, coordinates, implements, maintains and supervises an infection control program to prevent and/or control infection among patients and employees and to comply with requirements of regulatory agencies such as Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital, Centers for Disease Control, Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the Department of Public Health. Aligns department goals and tactics with hospital and strategic goals under the direction of the Quality and Patient Safety Director. Manages the day to day operations for the Infection Prevention and Infection control program. Provides education to medical staff, employees, and community members.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education: Bachelors degree in nursing or health care related field (ex. public health, respiratory therapy, or microbiology.

Minimum Work Experience:2 years experience in acute care setting and 2+ years of healthcare leadership experience (project management, oversight, or lead). 2 years of progressive infection experience and infection control certification preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications for position: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required – or obtained within 12 months of employment. If holds an RN license, it must be active in the state TN or Compact RN Licensure- Required

Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office.
Strong analytical and surveillance abilities.
Leadership and management skills – including time management, change management, team dynamics, goal setting, meeting facilitation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills & relationship building
Proven expertise in outbreak investigation
Bring innovation, enthusiasm, and creativity to practice
Ability to influence, serve as a role model, demonstrate accountability and integrity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
Light lifting, pushing and pulling is required for 10-20 lbs occasionally and frequent moving of objects of less than 10 lbs is required. Frequent sitting with some walking, standing, squatting, bending and reaching is required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
