Job Summary

Senior Director, Infection Prevention

We are looking for a candidate with a certification in Infection Control to fill the role of Senior Director of Infection Prevention at Jackson Health System; a public, academic health system in Miami, Florida. You will coordinate a team of 15 IP professionals at five hospitals; including a 1500-bed, 254-bed, 382-bed, 100-bed, 192-bed facility; and will need experience managing programs, people, departments, and multiple facilities.

A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required and a Master’s degree is strongly preferred. You will need at least 7 years of infection prevention experience, along with managerial experience.

Description

The Senior Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for the strategic, operational, human resource, quality and financial management and oversight of the Infection Prevention across Jackson Health System, including inpatient, ambulatory services, nursing homes and corrections health. This includes making strategic decisions to: align the defined service with the needs and resource supports of the targeted patient population; meet professional and regulatory standards/benchmarks for infection control quality; achieve infection prevention and employee health fiscal goals; and maintain staff performance at targeted levels. This director translates system and pavilion strategic plans and policies into an Infection Prevention Plan suitable to the unique operational needs of Jackson Health System. The Director leads implementation and evaluation of the Infection Prevention plan and provides reports relevant to achievement of strategic goals. The Director has authority to make decisions for the Infection Prevention and represent the system on interdisciplinary teams and interactions with other professionals and departments in making policy decisions and in creating conditions conducive to meeting system goals. The Director of Infection Prevention is responsible for creating and maintaining an environment that cultivates exemplary patient care. The Director works in partnership with nursing leadership, Physician partners, and other key stakeholders to define and clarify the strategic direction and operational plan for the infection prevention and employee health department. As a member of the quality leadership team, this director establishes a setting that supports professional practice and empowers staff to provide safe, effective, patient centered, timely and efficient care in collaboration with all health care disciplines. The Director facilitates continuous quality improvement through the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of departmental plans, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The Director ensures compliance with standards established by professional organizations, national, state, and local regulatory agencies, and institutional policies and procedures. The Director is accountable for practice that upholds high standards of integrity and ethical behavior. The Director mentors others, role models professionalism, and participation in activities such as nursing organizations, nursing research, the community, and bodies that shape health care policies and practices.

Qualifications

Experience: Generally requires 7 to 10 years of related experience. Management experience is required.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field is required. Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
Licensure Certification: Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
Knowledge Skill Abilities: General Competencies: Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment. Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications. Management Competencies: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance to make improvements or take corrective action. Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. Ability to establish goals and objectives. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
