A Hawaii health system is seeking a Surveillance Infection Preventionist to lead healthcare-associated infection surveillance and reporting. This full-time role focuses on systematic identification, validation, and reporting of HAI and SSI cases in accordance with CDC National Healthcare Safety Network requirements, while serving as a subject matter expert for surveillance methodology and data integrity.

The position is within an approximately 875-bed health system comprising three hospitals. The facility serves as a major referral center and maintains comprehensive infection prevention programs across multiple service lines. The Infection Prevention team works closely with clinical departments, Quality, and Epidemiology to ensure accurate classification and regulatory compliance.

Qualified candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and complete CDC NHSN training, with a Master’s in Public Health or Nursing preferred. Current CIC certification is required, or must be obtained within one year. The role requires four years of infection prevention experience in acute care settings and three years of direct HAI/SSI surveillance experience, including independent review and NHSN reporting. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in CDC surveillance definitions, chart review capabilities, and proficiency with NHSN data systems.
