The Infection Preventionist in Ohio is responsible for leading a comprehensive infection prevention and control program aimed at protecting patients, staff, and visitors by preventing the spread of communicable diseases. This role operates independently to manage infection surveillance, outbreak investigations, policy compliance, and education, while serving as a key resource for infection control strategy and leadership across the hospital.

Key responsibilities include monitoring hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), coordinating infectious disease investigations, leading infection risk assessments for construction projects, and guiding the Infection Control Committee. The Infection Preventionist also mentors new IPs, supports DNV survey readiness, and collaborates closely with Employee Health. This position reports to the Director of Quality with a dotted line to the Corporate Director and serves a 300-bed facility with an average daily census of 160.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in nursing, microbiology, medical technology, or a related field (master’s preferred), and experience in acute care or infection prevention. Experience in pediatrics preferred. The candidate should have strong knowledge of NHSN, DNV, OSHA, CMS, and CDC guidelines, with proficiency in software systems such as Epic, Bugsy, and MIDAS. Excellent communication, organization, and clinical skills are essential.
